Hi, we're Tanisha and Prabhakaran.
We're a couple from India — Tanisha from Dibrugarh in Assam, Prabhakaran from Bengaluru — and we now call New Zealand home.
Our journey here started in 2018 when Prabhakaran moved to Auckland to study. What followed was six years of navigating the New Zealand immigration system together: visitor visas, work visas, partner visas, and finally — residency. None of our visas were ever rejected, and every single one came through within a month of applying.
We didn't get lucky. We were prepared.
One of the things we got right was our relationship timeline. Not because we had a great template to work from — we didn't. The examples we found online were vague, and the advice on Facebook groups was even more so. So we built our own from scratch: going back through years of memories, hunting for old photos, digging up AirBnb receipts, and writing down the moments that mattered most.
What we ended up with wasn't just a list of dates. It was our story — told in a way that made it easy for someone who had never met us to understand that what we had was real. It worked. Today, immigration agents use our timeline as an example of what a relationship timeline should look like.
